Apply for Housing

Coming Soon: The 2010-2011 Housing Application will be posted soon (anticipated availability: mid-December)!

Apply Online (Spring 2010)

New Students (those not returning from last year)

*Students of Northwest Technical College and PSEO students may NOT apply online. Please submit a paper application to our office.

Steps for Applying for Housing Online:

  1. Submit the Online Application which involves the following steps:
    1. Enter the information about your roommate preferences.
    2. Choose options for the type of room you are interested in (you can identify certain buildings, room types, floor gender options, or learning communities).
    3. Based on your selections, you will be given a listing of types of rooms that match your preferences. You will be able to rank them in order of preference. While this doesn't guarantee you will get a room you desire, it improves your chances.
    4. You will be asked to agree to the terms of the contract.
    5. Students not yet 18 years of age: The online application will not permit students under 18 to agree to the terms and conditions of the contract. Rather than waiting until you are 18, you may print the form off the web, have a parent or guardian sign the form along with your signature, and mail it to our office at Residential Life #33, Bemidji State University, 1500 Birchmont Drive NE, Bemidji, MN 56601-2699.
  2. After applying, you will be asked to make a prepayment. You cannot be assigned a room until a prepayment is made.
  3. The housing staff at the campus will assign you to a room. You will be able to view the room assignment online including roommate information.
  4. Select a Meal Plan.

Apply Offline (Paper Application)

New Students for 2009-2010:

A prepayment of $150 is due with submission of the housing application (of this amount, $100 is non-refundable). $150 is non-refundable if cancelling after July 21, 2009 for Fall Semester, or after December 1, 2009, if the contract begins with the Spring Semester.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I get to choose my own room?
When creating a house application, you can choose preferences and rank them. You can also describe the type of roommate you desire or name a roommate if you know with whom you'd like to be placed. Our system will take your requests into consideration when creating a room assignment for you. However, you aren't guaranteed any specific room or roommate.

What do I do if I don't know my desired roommate's student ID number?
You can enter a student's name at the time you create the reservation, but you need to supply the roommate's student ID at some point before the room assignments are made. You can use the 'Change' feature within the online application to change your reservation and provide additional information at a later time.
