Residential Life

FYRE (First Year Residential Experience)

Jump Into FYRE!

New freshman students at BSU can choose to participate in the First Year Residential Experience program. FYRE is a voluntary program which assigns interested, new, traditional-aged freshman to a common living area in Oak Hall where they live with only first year students. Living with other first year students allows participants to easily make new friends and share similar experiences with others who are also new to the University. Together you will explore BSU and help each other make the transition to college life. The FYRE program provides a unique academic and social experience specifically designed for first year students.

Benefits of the FYRE Program Include:

  • Friends!!! You are all new first year students sharing the same experiences together at BSU
  • An individualized orientation program designed exclusively for FYRE students

  • Two caring Resident Assistants on each floor
  • Two Peer Academic Assistants living on each floor

Bucky's Scoop.

You are going to love FYRE! I was a little worried when I heard the name, I'm not too fond of fire you know. But this program is just the ticket for incoming Freshman to jump right into college life, be part of a ready made community, and receive outstanding academic support, all at the same time! If you're a freshman, how do you spell success? F-Y-R-E! (Okay, we'll work on your spelling later).
