FYRE (First Year Residential Experience)
Jump Into FYRE!
New freshman students at BSU will participate in the First Year Residential Experience program. FYRE is a program which assigns interested, new, traditional-aged freshman to a common living area in Oak Hall and Pine Hall where they live with only first year students. Living with other first year students allows participants to easily make new friends and share similar experiences with others who are also new to the University. Together you will explore BSU and help each other make the transition to college life. The FYRE program provides a unique academic and social experience specifically designed for first year students.

- An individualized orientation program designed exclusively for FYRE students
- FYRE sections of the FYE (First Year Experience) Seminar classes
- Two caring Resident Assistants on each floor
- One to two Peer Academic Assistants living on each floor
- Special roommate matching process
- Academic Resource Center in Oak Hall
- FYRE social activities
Activities and Traditions
There is ALWAYS something to do for participants of the FYRE program. Activities include:
- A Day at the Low Ropes Course
- Free Bowling Night
- Mocktails (Alcohol free bar and dance)
- Haunted Halloween Floors
- Late Night Skate After BSU Hockey Game
- Madrigal Dinners
- FYRE BBQs
- Family Visit Weekend
- End of Year FYRE Banquet

- 554 Students (268 men and 286 women) living on thirteen residence hall floors.
- All Male Floors: Oak 4B, Pine 1, and Pine 3
- All Female Floors: Oak 2B, Pine 2, and Pine 4
- Coed Floors: Oak 2A, 3A, 4A, 3B, 2C, 3C, 4C
- Pine 4 houses the FYRE Nursing Learning Community
- Oak 2C houses the co-ed FYRE Outdoors Learning Community, Pine 3 houses the male FYRE Outdoors Learning Community
- Oak 3B houses the FYRE Emerging Leaders Learning Community
- Enrollment in the FYRE FYE Seminar class - 1 credit in the fall.
- 1 to 2 Peer Academic Assistants living on your floor
