Leadership Opportunities

Becoming more involved in the Residential Life community brings with it many opportunities for residents to assert themselves in leadership roles and influence their environment.

Residence Hall Councils

Each hall has it's own Hall Council. The purpose of the Council is to provide a voice for the concerns of its residents and to provide opportunities for participants to develop leadership skills. The Council helps in developing policies and procedures to improve the quality of life of residents, and and sponsors community development programs, and hall activities.

Residence Hall Association (RHA)

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) serves as a liaison for all the residents residing on campus and concerns that they may have and the Department of Residential Life and Bemidji State University administration. RHA develops hall wide prgramming and assists hall councils in planning activities for residents. RHA is associated with the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) and the Midwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (MACURH), which provide resources that help develop leaders on campus and help to make residence hall living an attractive option.

Floor Advisory Boards (FAB)

Each floor is represented by a Floor Advisory Board (FAB). Each FAB is comprised of the RA, the Hall Council Floor Representative, and 3-5 interested floor members. FAB's are responsible for evaluating the floor's social and academic environment, planning activities and programs to promote the floor community, and assisting in solving floor concerns or problems.
