CULTURAL ASSISTANT - OBLC
- Serve as primary welcoming person for early arriving OBLC members in August.
- Participate in weekly Linden staff meetings and work a two-hour weekly desk shift.
- Work in partnership with Linden 1B Resident Assistant and OBLC members in planning social and educational activities throughout the academic year. There will be a special emphasis on organizing social activities for community members when students first arrive on campus fall semester.
- Read assigned materials related to the stages of cultural adjustment. Provide outreach to community members in this area.
- Assist OBLC Coordinator in public relations and recruiting efforts.
- Assist in developing and maintaining OBLC web site.
- Organize an OBLC Open House in October.
- Help plan monthly dinner exchanges with faculty, staff, Bemidji community members.
- Assist OBLC members in planning community service and outreach activities.
- Oversee flag-painting activity (a hallway mural will feature flags of each country represented on the floor).
- Oversee the completion of monthly educational bulletin board in the Linden 1B elevator lobby. (Community members will take turns designing displays.)
- Take pictures at OBLC events and maintain a record of floor activities.
- Help plan a recognition event for International Student Day in February.
- Other responsibilities may be added based on community needs and the Cultural Assistant's interests and ideas.
Supervision Received:
Supervision will be received from the Residence Hall Director for Linden Hall.
