Guest Speaker -President Bensen - we needed to meet with you and look at the wage rates for students for Fall of 2000-2001. We need your reaction to the increase. Tom Faecke We learned a lesson earlier to come and talk to you early instead of later from Fall Semester. The Pell Grant Maximum is $3,300.; SEOG is $1,000.; and MN State Grant is $4,728. Looking at the ten year summary I passed around. To attend BSU next year it will cost $9,950.00. Tuition is 29.69% of this. Student employment award is $2000. We want to do a wage increase and we need your input on this. One change in the program is work student awards have to be used before you can go on to the regular payroll. Work study can be converted to a loan. The increase would be from 5.75 to 6.50 for students at 1-299 hours. $6.00 to 7.00 for students 300-599 hours. These increases would use more of the work study money and would help the students.

President Sirek – I have some appointments later. Friday I drove down and met with Chancellor Anderson and MnSCU. We discussed concerns at Meet & Discuss and figured out a game plan for next year. We discussed Financial Aid Issues of Work Study/Child Care, State Grant proposal and computer issues. Legislative Issues were Supplement proposal, Bonding, various bills and Friends of MnSCU. Searches for Presidential positions at St. Cloud and Metropolitan. Revenue Fund - Bonding and the Board, Allocation formula update of Bemidji. This morning MSUSA and IFO held a press conference at all 7 universities. Discussed high tuition and financial aid. The Governor not funding higher education appropriately. Discussion. Hopefully IFO will Lobby with us. We have 35 people going down for State Lobby Day. I have 3 vans reserved. We got rolls and orange juice for the trip. We might need to take some out of our budget for food. I went to SAFAC to ask for money for the DC trip for four people to be fully paid. If we don't get full funding the three representatives from BSU will be paid and the at large won't be funded.
Vice-President Anderson - none
Treasurer - We have 5,133.31 in out budget.
Legislative Affairs Chair Voss - Shannon got us a lot of rolls and juice for Lobby day. Brent got Aramark to give food to people on the meal plan. It will be done in a large package deal so everyone can eat the food. The students on the meal plan won't lose out on their meals. Lobby day meeting is today at 4 PM and tomorrow at 1 PM. Legislative Affairs meetings are at 1:15 PM on Tuesdays.
Academic Affairs Chair -Meeting is at 9:00 AM on Tuesdays.
Student Services Chair none
Public Relations Chair Klander We received 6 dozen pastries from 2 local area vendors. Also received orange juice for 20-30 people for Lobby Day. I am planning to drive down Tuesday night to attend informal networking meetings before starting our lobbying. If a driver is needed please let me know. I will change my plans. This is my last effort to advocate to Scott that we need to obtain at least $5.00 per person (attending lobby day) for a lunch. These students are committed students who deserve compensation for attending this important day for Bemidji State. If you are in favor of this please speak now or be hungry on Wednesday. We are getting bag lunches from Aramark for the meal plan people.
Cultural Diversity Chair none.
Dance Club Committee - by Scott Sirek-I went to the Black Box Theater and it's awesome. It's a big black box with the walls, floor and ceiling painted black. It has great speakers. I'll look for funds also.
