Become a Peer Tutor for the Advising Success Center

In order to become a peer tutor in the ASC you must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA and a minimum grade of B in the course(s) that you will be tutoring. 

All peer tutors are student workers.

ASC Peer Tutoring Program is done by both drop-in and by-needs-basis.  This means that some of our peer tutors have regular tutoring hours where students can drop in and meet with a tutor.  Other peer tutors do not hold regular hours, but are contacted per request by students.    

The following is a list of high-tutorial need subjects.  Although we have identified the following subjects as high-tutorial need areas we also accept applications from students who wish to tutor other subject areas. 

• Accounting
• History
• Math
• Philosophy
• Psychology
• Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.)
• Sociology
• Study Skills
• Reading & Writing

Applications may be submitted to the ASC in Sanford Hall 101 and must include all of the following:

• Completed Tutor Application [doc] Form
  
• A letter of recommendation from a currently faculty at Bemidji State University, preferably from the department of the course you are wishing to tutor.
• A current copy of your academic transcript
•  A copy of your current semester schedule
• Financial Aid eligibility (if applicable)
