Information for Parents and Families
As a parent you play a vital role in the decision making process your student will embark on when choosing their major and career. This site offers a host of resources that we hope will aid you as you provide guidance to your student. We want to let you know that your student has access to all we have to offer from help deciding on a major and career to landing an internship and finding a good job. Services for Your Student
Calendars
We offer opportunities for your student to connect directly with employers throughout the year with On Campus Recruiting and Career Fairs. We also have Career Fairs listed throughout the state. You'll also find a calendar of on-campus workshops.

Tools to help students narrow down their options and zero in on the career and major that is best suited for them.
Resumes and Cover Letters
We offer a host of resources to aid your student in writing your resume and cover letter. They are their personal marketing tool and foot in the door in helping them line up an interview with a potential employer.
Here is a useful tool for building your resume the "Resume Rubric" created by Amy Raphael, the director of career planning and placement services at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
Self-Managed Credential Files
Information on establishing and maintaining a credential file for use when applying for jobs and internships. Credential files include references, letters of recommendation, and copies of transcripts.

Internships
Information on how your student can prepare for and locate an internship that will be best suited to advance their career goals. We have tools to help prepare for searching for an internship, and a database of employers who have provided internships to BSU students.
Job Search
Tools to help students prepare for and execute a job search, from resume writing to job listings. BSUCareers is our online resume and job posting service for exclusive use by BSU students and alumni. We also have detailed Job Seeking Handbooks available for download with even more detailed information.

BSUCareers
BSUCareers is Bemidji State University's online job listing and resume referral system exclusively for BSU students and alumni and employers interested in hiring them. It is recommended that all BSU students register with and utilize this system.
CareerSpots Videos
3 minute job preparation videos on a wide range of topics that will help you prepare for and land the job you want.
Practice Interviews
InterviewStream are interactive webcam recorded job interviews that allows students to practice their interview skills with a video interviewer and then watch themselves and see how they did.
