Mission Statement
The mission of the Bemidji State University Counseling
Center is to assist students to define and accomplish their personal and
academic goals by providing individual assessment, professional counseling,
educational programming, referral for students, student and staff crisis
intervention and response, graduate student intern supervision and training,
and consultative services to students, faculty and staff.
This mission is accomplished through the provision of high
quality direct service, assessment, educational programming, outreach and
promotion of services, collaboration with campus and community colleagues and
agencies, efficient and effective management of Counseling Center
personnel and non-personnel resources, and commitment to professional
standards.
Goals:
- To provide high quality individual
assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referral
to students who may be experiencing psychological or behavioral difficulties.
- To provide educational programming focused on
the developmental and adjustment
needs of enrolled students in order to maximize student's potential to benefit
from their collegiate experience.
- To make the university environment and collegiate
experience as beneficial as possible
to the intellectual, emotional, and physical development of students, through
collaboration with/and consultative services to the university, community, and
services region.
- To promote campus and community awareness of
Counseling Center Services and
resources.
- To
manage Counseling
Center personnel and
non-personnel resources efficiently and
effectively to insure that services and programs are accessible and appropriate
for the needs of Bemidji
State University
and are in accordance with professional standards and "best practice."
