Jan Guggenheimer, PsyD, MSW, LICSW
Professor, Clinical Director and Counselor

Dr. Jan Guggenheimer has a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in clinical psychology from Argosy University, a Master of Social Work in clinical social work and an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Denver. She is licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).  Jan has worked at the BSU Counseling Center since 1990 and presently serves as Clinical Director and Counselor.  She has also worked in private practice, community mental health, sexual abuse and chemical dependency treatment programs. She also contracts with North Country Regional Health Services providing workplace consulting and training as well as with other organizations within the community.  Send a message. 


Lawrence J. Hanus, MA, LP
Associate Professor, Counselor

Mr. Hanus is a Licensed Psychologist with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota.  He also has Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Political Science from the University of Toledo.  He brings a diversity of human services and clinical experience in the Bemidji region to the BSU community,  serving most  recently in private practice and previously at the  Upper Mississippi Mental Health Center.  He provided a wide range of mental health services including counseling,  diagnostic assessment, psychological testing and evaluations,  clinical supervision, and consultation. Send a message.
