Office of Civil Rights - Know Your Rights and Responsibilities

Making and following through on a decision to enroll in postsecondary education can be an anxious time for students as they begin their transition to college. This is a time fraught with change; college students are adults by law and must assume the responsibility for identifying that they have a disability and providing documentation that a specific academic adjustment or accommodation is warranted. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has answered some of the frequently asked questions that parents and students have regarding academic adjustments in postsecondary education.
