Department of Public Safety

The Department of Public Safety is currently in the process of hiring student officers to begin employment Summer 2014 and Fall 2014.  
This employment opportunity is a great resume builder regardless of field, offers a diverse working experience, and gives students an opportunity to help provide a safe and secure learning environment for the Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College communities.

Minimum requirements include: Enrolled for a minimum of six credits, GPA of at least 2.0 or higher, no criminal history (background checks are conducted), and a valid driver’s license.

Grounds and Maintenance

Summer Painting:  Duties include painting, sanding, scraping and other related duties

Grounds Worker:  Duties include mowing, trimming, planting flowers, raking, and all other related duties

Inventory has an opening for 1 reliable student assistant for Full-time Summer, M-F, no weekends.  Applicants must be registered for at least 6 credits in the Fall.  

Primary duties of the position are:

•    Marking new BSU equipment for inventory, both at the warehouse and various campus locations and recording serial #s and model #s from new equipment
•    Moving surplus or broken equipment for recycling (equipment such as computers, monitors, VCRs, other electronics
•    Performing physical inventory of equipment at BSU, NTC, and Sanford Center
•    Searching for missing equipment on campus.
•    Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

The work requires diligence, reliability, responsibility, and thoroughness (attention to detail—working with numbers).  It also requires the ability to move large quantities of surplus electronics for surplus palleting, and extensive walking/standing while conducting physical inventory.
The Inventory office is located in the Central Maintenance Building at the North end of the university campus, across from the University Plaza mini-mall and near Maple Hall.   Parking is available by the building while you are working.

Residential Life

Job Description:
Student General Maintenance Worker – cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming and other cleaning duties as assigned
Student Moving Crew -- inventory and relocate building furniture and equipment. Organize storage spaces. Assist with cleaning, if needed.
