Public Safety Officer

The Department of Public Safety is currently in the process of hiring student officers to begin employment spring 2015 with the opportunity for full time hours during the summer.

This employment opportunity is a great resume builder regardless of field, offers a diverse working experience, and gives students an opportunity to help provide a safe and secure learning environment for the Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College communities.

Grounds and Maintenance

The Buildings and Grounds Department is taking applications for the following positions.

Summer Painting:  Duties include painting, sanding, scraping and other related duties

Grounds Worker:  Duties mowing grass, weed trimming, picking trash and all other grounds duties

Marketing Assistance and Research Solutions (MARS) Student Researcher

Reports to:       Director, Marketing Assistance and Research Solutions (MARS)
Supervises:      Nonsupervisory
Function:         Conduct applied marketing research for MARS clients _____________________________________________________________________________

$10.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
Work well in teams and autonomously
Conduct professional work from the MARS center (Mayflower building)
Communicate regularly with the Director and clients
Conduct team discussions
When appropriate, lead projects
Read the MRA Code of conduct
Complete the CITI IRB training and certification
Work with the client and director to determine the most appropriate research approach
Prepare proposals
Prepare Institutional Review Board applications
Prepare questionnaires
Conduct telephone surveys
Conduct internet surveys
Conduct mail surveys
Conduct focus groups
Write research reports
Construct questionnaires and discussion guides
Use the discussion guides and questionnaires
Graph survey and focus group data and other results
Create crosstabs to assist in data analysis
Prepare formal research reports
Prepare and make formal presentation (frequently at the client’s location)
When appropriate, students evaluate research results, the current environment and make recommendations
Appraise own work at the conclusion of each project

Physical Demands:
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
Requires the ability to drive and hold a valid driver’s license

Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled at Bemidji State University
Junior or senior standing

Completed or currently taking BUAD 4467: Marketing Research

Qualifications and Requirements: Must possess skills in marketing research

Specific skills and qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in marketing research
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic and printed reference materials
  • Strong analytical skills, including expertise in research and analysis of data
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics standards
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, professional, client-oriented working environment
  • Demonstrated record of initiative, problem solving, and adaptability
  • Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills

Optivation, a joint venture of Bemidji State University and Northwest Technical College

Optivation is the customized training and continuing education outreach arm of both BSU and NTC.  Our work is diverse and requires attention to detail and critical thinking skills. Optivation is located in Bridgeman Hall on the beautiful campus of Bemidji State University with additional office space at Northwest Technical College.

Requirements include, but are not limited to, excellent communication skills including written and verbal, computer savvy with knowledge of web-design basics a plus, ability to quickly learn new skills all while working in a team environment. The successful candidate will work with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, Lumens, Constant Contact and more. Student should also be willing and able to work between Northwest Technical College and Bemidji State University if needed.

Job duties: include providing office support (copying, typing, filing, and running errands), updates to Optivation website and Internet calendar postings, support marketing efforts of Optivation initiatives, and all other duties as assigned.

Residential Life

Department of Residential Life is looking for student assistance over the summer months. Come work with a fun energetic group of professionals and assist in keeping the Residence Halls sparkling.

40 hours/week with a pay raise in July!

We are looking for students to assist with a variety of cleaning opportunities:
• Room deep cleaning
• Carpet and hard surface floor deep cleaning
• Summer conference room prep and cleaning
• Daily trash removal
• Vacuuming
• And various cleaning duties as needed
