Internships: Prepare for and locate an internship that will be best suited to advance your career goals.
Academic Advising and Assistance in Course Selection:  Academic advising provided by TRIO/McNair faculty and staff are highly individualized. Students are assisted with  admissions procedures, financial aid information, course and program planning, registration, career directions.
Other Educational Activities:  McNair participants will be encouraged to attend cultural enrichment events (lectures and performances). Each year BSU hosts the Festival of Nations, a Native American Pow-Wow, and the Madrigal Dinner. These events are at no cost to McNair Scholars.
Tutoring: TRIO provides free one-on-one tutoring to all participants.
Financial Aid: McNair staff assists students on accessing graduate school financial aid including public and private scholarships and nationally competitive scholarships.
Faculty Mentoring:   Faculty Mentors interact with scholars interested in careers related to their academic fields.
Graduate School Visits:  Scholars may join up to three annual group visits to graduate schools where participants meet graduate faculty; tour research, library, and computer facilities; review graduate courses; and discuss doctoral requirements.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Preparation: Scholars receive GRE preparation in math, verbal and writing; testing strategies; taking practice tests using electronic resources; registering for and locating exam sites, and obtaining GRE test fee waivers.
Information for Parents/Families: McNair will foster families’ connectedness with their student’s education to enhance positive outcomes. Parents/Families will be invited to attend a gathering to discuss the benefits and objectives of the McNair program to their students.
