Summer Program Activities

In addition to academic classes, the summer program includes a variety of enrichment activities.

Summer Talent Show

Evening Entertainment

Evenings are full of fun activities including floor competitions, Family Feud, movies, time at the BSU recreation center and a talent show. There are a variety of events to appeal to all student interests. The final Summer Program activity is the Awards Banquet where teachers present academic awards to students. The evening includes a formal dinner and dance.

Upward Bound Students Adopt a Highway Clean Up

 

Service Learning

The summer program integrates meaningful community service with instruction and teaches civic responsibility through service learning projects.  Students participate in local city park and lakeside cleanup as well as the Adopt-a-Highway project located west of Bemidji.
 

Girls Camping Trip

 

Camping

A Camping trip is taken by both boys and girls floors on separate weeks. Students get the full outdoor experience setting up tents, cooking over a fire, and telling stories into the wee hours of the morning.

 

Rainy River Community College Visit

 

College Visits

Visiting colleges takes place multiple times throughout the Summer Program. Students will get the opportunity to tour and learn about both two-year and four-year colleges to help them in their postsecondary planning.
