Meet the WRC Staff
All of us writing assistants have experience writing at the university level and have taken a special course
preparing us for work as peer tutors for writing. As you get to know us you will find that each of us is different, with a different tutoring style. Let us know what works for
you and we'll do our best to help.

Hola, my name is Ivory Hilliard. Last year I
finished my work for a B.S. in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry.
Now I’ve returned to good-old BSU to earn a teaching licensure in
Life Sciences and a B. A. in Spanish. The Writing Center has been my
home base for three semesters now and I look forward to continuing
my residency here.

Greetings! I'm Traci Nigon,
a Senior majoring in English and Creative and Professional Writing.
I hail from from the booming metropolis of Eyota, MN, which is down
by Rochester. I'm currently the President of Rivers Meeting, an
anthology of BSU student writing, and of the Hobson Union
Programming Board (HUPB)--so if you're ever bored, stop by and ask
me what we're planning! :-) Also feel free to ask me any questions
about writing or about BSU in general--I'm friendly. :-) |

Hi, I’m Anie. I graduated
from Anoka Senior High here in Minnesota. I’m a sophomore studying
Creative and Professional Writing. In addition to the Writing
Resource Center, I also work in the Language Lab. Feel free to ask
me about Rivers Meeting (the campus poetry and art publication) or
the Honors Association. I’m happily involved in both. I look forward
to seeing you! |

Hey, I'm Zachary Burke, a
sophomore from Naples, Florida. I moved to Minnesota in sixth grade
to escape the golf courses and have been living in Bemidji ever
since. Though I'm not a creative writing major, I've always enjoyed
writing and the opportunity to lend a hand. I've had quite a bit of
experience with creative writing workshops and am eager to apply
what I've learned to helping anyone who comes to the Writing
Resource Center. |

Hello--I'm Brian Donovan, Professor of English and director of the Writing Resource Center since Fall of 1998, when I took over from my energetic and brilliant predecessor Michael Morgan. I have loved writing centers ever since joining the tutoring staff at the Writing Center at SUNY Albany, then run by Steve North and later by Lil Brannon. (Steve had slept on my floor when he visited the University of Iowa doing research for a doctoral dissertation on writing centers, but I don't think that was his only reason for taking me on when I showed up at Albany.) For more about me, see
my home page . If you are wondering where my moustache went, I have sacrificed it to a new hobby: SCUBA diving. (The mask seals better without it).
Come on down to HS 110 for one-on-one help with your writing projects--and remember, when you're just getting started and may not even have anything down on paper yet, that may be the best time of all to start working with one of our Writing Assistants. See you there! |
