Staff

The staff in the Sustainability Office are composed of passionate students with a drive to motivate the campus to think, act and be sustainable. The staff is composed of students with many different majors and backgrounds. Each person brings a different perspective to the group and with that diversity the staff has become resourceful and has gained the ability to communicate efficiently.

Erika Bailey-Johnson

  • Education: BA in Biology from the U of M, Morris
    • Master's degree in Environmental Studies from BSU in 2006
  • Teaching History: Taught for two years in Mexico and three years in Kuwait with her husband before returning home in Northern Minnesota; currently teaches as an adjunct instructor for the course People and the Environment.
  • Erika has been the Sustainability Coordinator at Bemidji State University since the fall of 2008
  • She maintains an active schedule with two young boys and a passion to make this community a healthier and more sustainable place

Abbey Lindee

  • Major: Indian Studies and Ojibwe Language
  • Hometown: Bemidji, MN
  • Started working in the Sustainability Office in Fall 2010
  • Interests outside of work: working with horses, riding bike, playing with her nephews and her dogs, and doing just about anything outside

Joseph Glatt

  • Major: Environmental Studies
  • Hometown: Kodiak, AK
  • Started working in the Sustainability Office Spring 2012
  • Interests outside of work: drawing, being with friends, watching good movies, listening to music

Brett Cease

  • Education: BA in Psychology from Augsburg
    • Pursuing Masters Education courses through BSU's FasTrack program
  • Originally from Bemidji, Brett  has served on staff at Schoolcraft Learning Community and served as the associate director of Camp Amnicon, a high-adventure wilderness ministry for youth on Lake Superior
  • Interests outside of work: canoe camping, cross-county skiing, ultimate Frisbee, and building yurts

Kyle Jansen

Alexandra Miller

  • Major: Environmental Studies

Dylan Sievers

  • Major: Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Engineering

Emmy Ahrens

  • Major: Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Policy and Planning

Caitlyn Schuchhardt- Green Corp Member

  • Education: Graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 2012 with a major in English Literature and a Minor in Studio Art.
  • Serving the Bemidji community this year as a MN GreenCorp member (an AmeriCorps program managed through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) and BSU's Sustainability Office is the host site!
  • Interests: Environmental Literature, ecocriticism, biking, spending time outdoors, and traveling
