2220 INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR (1 credit) An in-process discussion seminar for students taking courses in the Peace and Justice Studies Minor. Designed to enable students to integrate the content of the courses they are taking with peace and justice issues and themes. May be taken up to three times for credit and as often as desired on an audit (V) basis.
2925 PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT: GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE (3 credits) Value-based concepts of justice and human rights will be used to assess the unequal distribution of environmental impacts, risks, and protections associated with sociocultural variables such as race, ethnicity, class, place of residence, etc.; and these issues of environmental justice will be related to the achievement of global ecological balance, sociopolitical justice, economic justice, and peace. Employs a learning methodology of eliciting, clarifying, evaluating, and acting on personal value systems. Liberal Education Area VII
3130 PRINCIPLES OF PEACEFUL COMMUNICATION (3 credits) Principles, techniques, and skills of peaceful communication and interaction, with applications to the prevention, management, and resolution of conflicts at all levels from interpersonal to international
4470 INTEGRATIVE TUTORIAL (2-3 credits) A capstone experience of study, research, or work in which the student demonstrates the capacity to integrate and apply peace and justice themes to real-life situations where processes of change are problematic. Consultation with the Academic Director is required to enroll in this course.
