Master of Science--Teacher Education

Bemidji State University's Department of Professional Education is committed to high-quality graduate education for pre-K-12 and post-secondary teachers. To achieve this goal, the master's degree program core courses are designed to meet six program standards adapted from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Seven core courses in the new program address the standards and provide a sound foundation for advanced study.

The remainder of the program is devoted to advanced study in the teacher's content area. Thus the Teacher Education Master of Science degree promotes the scholarly development of professional teachers who directly influence the learning process of pre-school through post-secondary students.

Electives

To be determined with advisor. Note: Electives must be graduate level (typically 5000- and 6000-level courses) and must form a concentration in an academic area (i.e., science, mathematics, English, educational technology, and so on). Electives to be transferred from another institution must be from an accredited university. Concentrations must be clearly identified and approved by the advisor and the Dean of Graduate Studies.
