English Minor

Transfer Students

Those transfer students planning to minor in English must take a minimum of 6 quarter hours of courses from the Bemidji State University English Minor, including at least one 300- or 400-level course. One writing course beyond the Freshman English sequence is also strongly recommended.

Previous work will be carefully evaluated by the Department of English.

NOTE: Candidates seeking teacher certification in a minor must take the Education Methods course specific to that minor. See Course Offerings under Professional Education.

• ENGL 220 Expository Writing (4 credits)
• ENGL 223 Modern Usage and Structure (4 credits)
• ENGL 241, 242 Introduction to English Literature I, II (8 credits)
• ENGL 266, 267 American Literature (8 credits)
• ENGL 444 Shakespeare (4 credits)
• Electives in English numbered above 200 (9 credits)

TOTAL QUARTER HOURS REQUIRED FOR MINOR: 37 CREDITS
