Mathematics Course Desciptions
Mathematics Major, B.S.
The Mathematics Bachelor of Science major is designed to
provide the student with a basic core of knowledge in the field of
mathematics and to permit the student to extend this core by means
of an emphasis in one of three options: pure mathematics,
applied/professional mathematics, or computer science/information
systems.
I. Transfer students must take a minimum of 15 quarter hours in
the major at Bemidji State University.

readiness for calculus, the student will be placed in one of the
following pre-calculus sequences:

- *NOTE: A student planning a career in actuary science
should select those courses which best serve as preparation for
the examinations of the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty
Actuarial Society. A list of these electives may be obtained from
the Mathematics Department Chair.
