Nursing Major, B.S.

Students must be formally admitted to the major. The Department of Nursing should be contacted regarding admission and progression criteria.

I.Admission to the Major

Lower division preparation in nursing is required prior to submitting an application for the major. Applicants must:

• Be a graduate of a state approved associate degree or diploma nursing program.
• Be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Minnesota or be a graduate with license pending.
• Evidence a minimum of 30 quarter hours in non-nursing courses, including 10 quarter hours in
• science and mathematics, and 10 quarter hours representing social and behavioral sciences.
• Evidence completion of lower division credits in nursing.
• Evidence a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 (on a 4.0 system).
• Submit three practice characteristics rating scales as provided by the program.
• Be formally admitted to Bemidji State University via the Admissions Office.

II. Progression

All individual nursing courses applied to the upper division major requirements must reflect a letter grade of C or better.
