Art History Minor

I.Required Courses

• VSAR 255 Art History Survey I (4 credits)
• VSAR 256 Art History Survey II (4 credits)
• VSAR 257 Art History Survey III (4 credits)
• VSAR 455 Studies in Art History
  or VSAR 457 Contemporary Theory and Criticism (3 credits)

Subtotal: 15 credits

II. Required Directed Electives

With consent of advisor, select at least 12 additional hours in Art History. *NOTE: Visual Arts major must apply 12 hours of Art History or related course work distinct from the Directed Electives in their program.

Subtotal: 12 credits

III. Required Independent Study

At least 3 additional hours of independent study/research Updated: (VSAR 491, 492) must be completed under the direction of advisor, or her/his nominee.

Subtotal: 3 credits

TOTAL QUARTER HOURS REQUIRED FOR MINOR: 30 CREDITS

Visual Arts majors taking the Art History minor should take 12 additional elective quarter hours in other Visual Arts courses in place of VSAR 255, 256, and 257 listed in the major requirements.
