TRIO/Student Support Services

Sanford Hall (lower level)

TRIO/Student Support Services (TRIO/SSS), funded through the U.S. Department of Education, provides to eligible students academic advising and counseling, tutoring, mentoring, and developmental courses (TRIO/SSS College Orientation, Reading and Study Skills, and Life Career Planning). To receive services, a student must meet TRIO income eligibility guidelines, be a first generation college student, and/or be a student with a disability. Beginning with the summer SOAR programs, SSS faculty assist students with academic, financial aid, and personal advising. Services are designed to enhance academic skills, persistence in college through to graduation, and potential for entry into graduate or professional school. TRIO/SSS courses are categorized as Developmental Electives (DEVL) and University Studies (UNIV) (see also these listings in Section VII).
