The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program scope allows for free tax help to people who generally made $60,000 or less during the 2022 tax year, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
BSU students who have passed IRS certification tests will be available via email from 4 – 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday from March 13th to April 18th to answer tax questions that are within the VITA scope under the guidance of Dr. James Kroger, Assistant Professor of Accountancy.
If your tax return is outside the VITA scope, you may still utilize the free software and eFiling, but requests for tax assistance will need to be addressed directly to the IRS.
More information, including our Question & Answer email address, will be posted here as we near our March 13th VITA site opening.
