Junior marketing communications major Andrew Hanson has received a $2,500 scholarship from the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation that he says will allow him to continue his education at Bemidji State.
“This scholarship was a huge blessing,” he said. “I was looking for a second job when I received it, and now I can more easily pay for the semester.”
The Perham, Minn., native is one of 21 recipients of the scholarships from a pool of nearly 100 applicants. The foundation makes its scholarships available to society members who are enrolled in a human resource-related degree program, such as business, psychology or human resources.
Hanson says the scholarship will help keep him on track to graduate from Bemidji State in the spring of 2019.
“My future will definitely be at BSU now since I can pay the tuition,” he said. “I am a junior this year, so receiving the scholarship will help pay for my final year coming up. The SHRM scholarship program has definitely made me realize that hard work pays off.”
