Research & Engagement
Through the years we’ve sponsored and created a number of programs designed to help students develop practical skills and real-world experience while learning the value of professional networking.
In collaboration with other departments and organizations on campus as well as the local community, we provide students opportunities to gain hands-on experience working on professional projects for real businesses, including:
- Focus group research
- Mail/telephone surveys
- Research analysis
- Event staffing/volunteering
Marketing/Research Assistance for Local Business
The Marketing Assistance & Research Solutions program (MARS) administered through the College of Business, Technology and Communication is a faculty-directed, student-run center serving the northwest Minnesota business community.
Greater Bemidji and regional companies contract with MARS to provide marketing research and analysis, which is performed by students with faculty supervision. Companies benefit from competitively priced services and students gain invaluable experience.
Business and business-related clubs are also active in the regional community, attending and organizing events on and off campus and volunteering for local companies and organizations.
The Department of Business Administration works with other programs on campus and the local business community to create opportunities for students to gain hands-on paid experience working with real companies.
Clubs & Organizations
Students majoring or interested in business can meet, network and socialize with their peers through several on-campus organizations, including the Business Club, Student Human Resources Management Chapter (SHRM) and Sigma Beta Delta.
The Human Resource Club provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into the effective management of human capital in the field of Human Resource Management. They’ve already brought home the Outstanding Program Award from LCHRA, the Outstanding Student Organization from BSU, and the National SHRM Student Chapter Merit Awards. [Web] [Facebook]
