Graduate Assistantship

About the Position

Type of Appointment

1 year or 2 year (renewal after 1st year with satisfactory progress/performance); must be admitted to a master's degree offered at Bemidji State University. The Master of Education degree programs include a deadline for application of March 15th for the following academic year).

Salary & Benefits

$8500, 12 semester credits of tuition & out-of-state fees waived, shared office, computer with internet & email capabilities provided (subject to change without notice).

Date of Appointment

Begins the first faculty duty day for fall semester; ends the last faculty duty day for spring semester (no summer responsibilities)

Application Deadline

Review begins in September/October of each year and continues until the TWO Physical Education graduate assistant positions are filled. Student must apply for and be admitted into a master's program of study offered at BSU in order to be considered for a graduate assistant position.

Responsibilities

Physical Education Graduate Assistantship:

100% teaching in physical education - teach 4 credits of skills classes each semester

Graduate assistants are expected to hold office hours, participate in faculty/staff meetings and other professional activities in addition to performance of assigned duties.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess an earned B.S. or B.A.. with a teaching major in physical education. Applicants must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or better and be accepted into a master's degree program offered at BSU before they can be offered a graduate assistantship contract. Applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States.
