Dr. Fulton Gallagher, Professor Emeritus and an adjunct member of the music faculty teaches voice in the department. He received his undergraduate training at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his doctor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he was a leading baritone with the Indiana University Opera Theatre. He also completed post-doctoral work at Harvard University.

Over the years, Dr. Gallagher has served as Chair of the Music Department, Dean of Fine Arts and Humanities, and Director of the Opera Theatre. He founded and directed Opera Night for many years, a popular venue for operatic arias, duets and ensembles in a dinner setting at the University, the Twin cities and other numerous locations.

In addition to his musical involvement at the University, Dr. Gallagher has been President of the Faculty Association, President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association, (MMEA) a recipient of many grants and awards, and has had a major scholarship for vocal students established in his name. Many students of his have gone on to distinguished careers in singing and music education.
