Music Scholarships

Each year, the music faculty selects individuals with outstanding musical talent to receive scholarship awards of varying amounts, from $500 to Full Tuition Scholarships.

Candidates need not be planning a major in music to qualify for scholarship awards. To be considered for a scholarship in music, an incoming student must apply for admission to the University at the earliest opportunity, complete a music scholarship application, submit one letter of recommendation under separate cover, and complete an audition.

On-Campus Auditions

This year, due to COVID-19, music scholarship auditions for the 2021-2022 academic year can be completed in-person (at BSU on February 19th or 20th) or with an audio/video submission.  More info can be found on the application (link below).

In-person audition applications are due February 8th, 2021

Online submission audition applications are due February 12th, 2021

For more information about our music department and scholarships, please contact Dr. Eric Olson at or office tel: 218-755-3941.

All admitted students are encouraged to visit our campus in-person at any point during the school year and are welcome to observe most classes and ensemble rehearsals.  Upon request, sample lessons are usually available with many of our studio teachers.
