Nurse Tim visits students in BSU’s Niganawenimaanaanig Program and Nursing Department

Niganawenimaanaanig invited internationally known educational consultant and nurse educator, Dr. Tim Bristol (PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN, and CEO of NurseTim, Inc.), to Bemidji State on January 15, 2019. Dr. Bristol specializes in continuing education, faculty development and student success in nursing programs. He is known for creativity in learning and assessment. Working at all levels of academia and practice, he delivers quality outcomes through the development of clinical judgment skills in students and professions. In America, he has developed and lead teams of consultants who serve over 45,000 nurses, faculty, and students. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications and books focusing on success in academia, on NCLEX, and in clinical practice.

Dr. Bristol began his time on campus by sharing his personal story and educational journey with 19 Niganawenimaanaanig students and 3 staff. Later in the evening, all of BSU nursing students were invited to attend his presentation on improving study habits and tips to prepare for the NCLEX exam. A total of 78 students attended the event. They were grateful for the opportunity to learn so many beneficial study tips to help them focus their reading and studying on how the information relates to the clinical setting and patient care. Each student was given a set of tools to assist them in implementing the tips Nurse Tim presented. The key points from Nurse Tim was to “bring it back to clinical”, reminding students that nurses must be safe, and ultimately that’s what the NCLEX ensures.
