The Department of Political Science offers scholarships for students who demonstrate financial need or academic excellence.

To be eligible for all scholarships at BSU, fill out the Foundation Scholarship Application before Feb 1st.

Alexander and Ardell Nadesan Scholarship

Criteria: $500 award to a Political Science major.

James and Marilyn Heltzer Political Science Scholarship

Criteria: Political Science major, preference given to Bemidji High School graduates. Must have completed a minimum of 9 credits in political science courses and have minimum GPA of 3.0.

Jim Cecil Political Science Scholarship

Criteria: New student entering the Political Science major. Can be a freshman in top 15% of their high school class or a transfer student with 3.25 GPA.

League of Women Voters Bemidji Area-Hazel Shimmin Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or senior Political Science major. Secondary consideration to Social Studies major. Required 3.0 GPA and preference given to a woman.

League Women Voters Bemidji Area-Parker and Brune Mangelsdorf Scholarship

Criteria: The Dr. Mable Parker and Dr. Ruth Brune Mangelsdorf Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior BSU student in political science. A 3.0 GPA is required. Secondary consideration is given to Social Studies students. Preference is given to women applicants.

Patrick Donnay and Lori Forshee-Donnay Scholarship

Criteria: Political Science major(s) with a minimum of 15 completed credits at BSU by time of application. They will also have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from their BSU credits.

Political Science Internship Scholarship

Criteria: Junior or senior with an interest in politics and public policy, with a preference given to those students with a declared major in political science or social studies who will participate in an internship related to politics/policy in the metropolitan Twin Cities region or in the Washington D.C. region.
