Exam Registration and Additional Information

MTLE Testing Dates

For current testing dates, consult the Testing Windows/Dates tables available through the MTLE website. MTLE test appointments may be scheduled Monday-Saturday (unless otherwise noted), including holidays, on a first-come, first-served basis.

REMINDER - Be sure to select Bemidji State University as your score recipient.

MTLE Testing Locations

MTLE tests are offered at test centers throughout Minnesota, including Bemidji State University.  For other locations consult the Test Center/Site Locations tables available through the MTLE website.

NOTE: Candidates are required to bring an acceptable form of photo identification with them to the test site.  Tickets for paper-based tests will be issued after you register and have been assigned a seat.

Registration

Registration is completed online ONLY.  You can register online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  There is no registration deadline for the computer-based tests, only for the paper/pencil tests.

  • Create an account on the website and login to register.
  • Select Bemidji State University as your score recipient.
  • Keep your user name and password to view/change your registration, check scores, etc.
  • Download and save your score report for future use.

Registration in advance is recommended due to limited seating availability at various test site locations. Consult the MTLE website for more information regarding changing the test date or test site, test you are registered for, and withdrawal/refund policy.

Increased testing capacity is scheduled for implementation in September 2012.  Rather than having testing windows each month (approximately 12 days Long), candidates will have access to on-going registration which will allow greater flexibility in scheduling and additional testing opportunities.

Registration Fees

Test registration fees must be paid using a VISA or MasterCard only.  If you are using a debit card, it must carry the VISA or MasterCard logo and be usable without the entry of a personal identification number.  The merchant name that will appear on your statement is "Eval Systems Test Fee".  If you do not have a VISA or MasterCard, contact Evaluation Systems (800-557-3759) or consult the MTLE website.

Financial Assistance Vouchers

Financial assistance vouchers, or fee waivers, are available for Bemidji State University students who meet the eligibility criteria indicated below.  You may receive only one fee waiver per year.  Requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible for a fee waiver, you must meet the following conditions:

  • You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • You must be currently receiving financial aid.
  • You must meet certain eligibility income guidelines.

To apply for financial assistance vouchers, contact the Education Department Chair.

Retake Fee Vouchers

Candidates who have failed a subtest five or more times may be eligible for a fee voucher for subsequent attempts.  To request a retake fee voucher, contact Evaluation Systems prior to registering for the test.

For questions concerning financial assistance vouchers and retake fee vouchers, consult the "Test Fee" information within the appropriate exam description on the MTLE website, or contact the Education Deparmtnet Chair.

Alternative Testing Arrangements

In general, test sessions have been designed to allow sufficient time to complete the test.  However, examinees with documented disabilities, examinees for whom English is not a primary language, and examinees whose religious practices prevent them from testing on Saturdays may be eligible for alternative testing arrangements.

For more information, consult the MTLE website.

Score Reports

Candidates will receive a preliminary score at the close of their testing session (for all computer-based tests EXCEPT for the Basic Skills Writing test).  At the close of each testing window all tests will continue to go through the full quality control and item processes through Pearson, and as such candidates will not receive their official score report until 21 days after the close of the testing period.  (This change will be phased in beginning in September 2012 and fully operational by the end of December 2012.)   Your score report will be emailed to you, if you requested this service at the time of registration.  Score reports are released approximately 21 days after the testing window and are posted to your account for 45 days as PDF documents, which you may view, print, and save for your records.  Your account also contains your complete testing history, including each test you’ve taken and the test date.

Your test results are reported to you and to any institution that you indicated as a score recipient when you registered.  Your scores are also reported directly to the BOT and are automatically added to your licensure application file.  Reminder:  Be sure to select Bemidji State University as your score recipient.
