We provide professional development opportunities for participating high school instructors.<\/p>\n<p>We pair each high school instructor with a BSU faculty mentor and provide them with opportunities throughout the year to collaborate with BSU faculty and further develop their skills as an educator. CIHS instructors receive numerous benefits, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use of the BSU library and electronic resources<\/li>\n<li>Professional development such as training and orientation to University curriculum and University-sponsored workshops<\/li>\n<li>BSU campus visits, classroom visits by the faculty mentor and other opportunities to encourage collegial interaction with University faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Instructor Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>In order to be eligible to serve as a Bemidji State University College in the High School instructor, instructors must have the support of their high school\u2019s administration and meet criteria established by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/96\/2025\/05\/2025-04-25_Policy_Minimum-Faculty-Qualifications.pdf\">BSU Minimum Faculty Qualifications for Course Instruction<\/a> policy. Determination of whether a high school instructor meets these qualifications is made by the sponsoring academic department at the University.<\/p>\n<div id=\"divCustomAttributes\">\n<div class=\"js-custom-attributes-container\">\n<div id=\"ctlAttribute2294\">\n<div id=\"divAttribute2294\" class=\"disp-group\">\n<div><span class=\"wrap-text\">Eligibility requirements normally include an earned Master\u2019s degree in subject area or Master\u2019s degree plus 18 graduate credits in subject area.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"divTags\"><\/div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/distance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/06\/Instructor-approval-process.pdf\">Instructor Approval Process<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instructors must submit a completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/distance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/06\/Instructor-qualification-and-information-form-fillable.pdf\">Instructor qualification and information form<\/a>, signed by the high school principal, along with a resume and official graduate transcripts to BSU&#8217;s College in the High School Program Director, to request approval to teach in this program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructor Responsibilities<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in training and orientation in course curriculum, assessment criteria, course philosophy, and BSU academic policies<\/li>\n<li>Work collaboratively with faculty mentor for approval of course content, assessment criteria, course philosophy, and evaluation strategies implemented in the course<\/li>\n<li>Participate in University sponsored workshops and other professional development opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Use BSU approved textbooks and syllabus for course instruction<\/li>\n<li>Use BSU grading policy<\/li>\n<li>Notify students of their academic progress on a routine basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please review the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/distance\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/Instructor-Handbook-25-26.pdf\">Instructor Handbook<\/a> for additional details on the program&#8217;s expectations, policies and procedures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Instructors are at the core of BSU College in the High School.
