Academic Advising

One of the student’s first contacts with BSU should be their academic advisor, who is assigned upon the student’s acceptance into their master’s degree program.

The Role of the Academic Advisor

Each student’s program advisor acts as a guide through the program. Since the advisor is involved with the day-to-day processes of a student’s program, students should be in communication with him/her regularly concerning their academic progress. If you are unclear as to whom your advisor is, please contact the School of Graduate Studies.

The Role of the Department

The academic department also plays a large role in the graduate experience, as it is the department that makes admission decisions and ensures the quality of the curriculum.

The department has a vested interest in its graduate students because, upon completion, its graduates become ambassadors for their program. They want to see their students succeed and are happy to assist them throughout their graduate education and experience.

Please contact the School of Graduate Studies should you have questions.
