Three students and two faculty members attended the Upper Midwest Regional Honors Conference at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa from March 20 – 25.
Gabriela Lara, a junior science education major, presented her narrative research titled, “The Future of the Environmental Movement.” Austin MacRae, a senior chemistry major, presented a poster titled, “Synthesis of Gd-Complexes for the Recycling of Phosphate.” Daniela Maltais, a senior psychology student presented a poster titled “The Antidepressant Actions of Soluble Tumor Necrosis Factor in Antidepressant Resistant Rats,” which was based on her summer internship at Mayo Clinic. Each of these students is an Honors Program student.
Drs. Season Ellison and Tracy Caravella led a brainstorming session to cultivate creativity in student and faculty research. Season Ellison was elected to a two-year term as state representative of UMRHC and, student, Gabriela Lara, was elected to a one-year term as the student state representative.
Bemidji State University’s Honors Program will host the conference in 20/20, which will bring in students, faculty, staff, and administration from Honors Programs and Colleges across the upper Midwest.
