Eager Beavers July 28-August 16, 2019

Ease into your college life as an Eager Beaver, an exclusive opportunity for newly admitted, first-year students with an ACT score of 20 or higher.  If you want to get a head start on your college courses and interested in taking a leadership role on campus, the Eager Beaver program may be a good fit for you.  Join us this summer for an exclusive three-week campus experience.  Limited to 25 students.  Priority deadline is May 1.  Click here for brochure.

Bemidji State University is offering an Eager Beaver summer start program July 28-August 16, 2019.  Join us for this exclusive three-week, on-campus experience limited to 20-25 students.

Choose four-credit hours to fulfill two goals areas for your required liberal arts curriculum:

9-11:45 am 1-2:30 pm
People of the Environment (3-cr.) Sailing: Skills for Life (1-cr.)
English Composition (3-cr.) Techniques of Relaxation (1-cr.)

Weekend Programs

Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival

Serve on a Dragon boat team with your fellow Eager Beavers.  The Bemidji Dragon Boat festival is an annual event bringing together businesses, schools, native nations, organizations as teams to paddle against each other in these unique Dragon boats.  You can participate on the Eager Beaver Dragon Boat team as follows:

Overnight Trip

Gain skills as you explore a regional Minnesota State Park.  Get acquainted with the outdoors on a weekend excursion: camping, canoeing, hiking, campfire, cooking, storytelling and more.  We encourage Eager Beavers to take an active lead in facilitating the weekend.

Students are expected to attend all activities.  Eager Beavers with 100% participation will be entered in drawing for a $300 bookstore gift card for fall 2019.


Beaver Guides

Current BSU students will serve as mentors throughout the Eager Beaver program.  Beaver Guides will assist in facilitating the evening and weekend programming and serve as a resource as Eager Beavers transition to college life.  They will make the Eager Beaver program a fun experience while helping students excel academically.

Beavers Explore

A portion of the weekdays will be set aside for BSU staff to help Eager Beavers explore personal development in the areas of critical, creative and practical thinking; resume writing; mock interviews; student employment & college finances; learning in an inclusive environment; and more!

scholarships:

Limited scholarship funds available based on financial need. Fall 2019 FAFSA application will be required and reviewed to establish scholarship eligibility.

Option to stay on-campus between program and start of fall semester: August 16-23, $162 extra.
