What I like about BSU: That it’s on Lake Bemidji. There is nothing more valuable than being near a body of water. When its hot and you don’t want to buy an AC unit you can just go swimming! When it’s cold and you’re tired of the Netflix options you can try ice fishing or XC Skiing. Having a lake so close, when you may not have access to a car or other transportation, is what sets BSU above other schools. Additionally, having such a special environment surrounding campus forces students and administration alike to consider their impact on the environment as a whole. BSU sees and takes seriously its responsibility to maintaining and protecting the waters that make it so special, and its class offerings reflect that. Regardless of the major you choose, everyone can benefit from BSU’s unique location as climate change is an interdisciplinary issue that can only be solved by experts in various fields coming together with a singular goal.
