Welcome to the Bemidji State University graduate community!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admitted Student Next Steps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&rsquo;s everything you need to be ready on day one of your first semester as a graduate student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student ID Card<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You are required to have an ID card to use the Library, access the Gillett Recreation\/Fitness Center facilities, or print in any computer lab. Review the process for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/mybsu\/resources\/id-cards\/\">ordering your ID card<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technology Services<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Activate Your Email.<\/strong>&nbsp;Your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/services.bemidjistate.edu\/TDClient\/84\/Portal\/KB\/?CategoryID=839\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BSU email account<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;is required for accessing all official communications. To activate your email, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/mybsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">myBSU<\/a>&nbsp;and select New Account Activation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Connect to the Wireless Network.<\/strong>&nbsp;Connecting to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/services.bemidjistate.edu\/TDClient\/84\/Portal\/KB\/?CategoryID=67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BSU wireless network<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;requires a username, password and proper configuration of your computer. Please contact (in person) Technical Support in Deputy Hall, Room 161 with a current and valid BSU ID to obtain your username and password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Learn About Computer Labs.<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/its\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Information Technology Services<\/a>&nbsp;provides a&nbsp;number of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/its\/computer-labs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">labs<\/a>&nbsp;for the university community. You will find computers in the library, some classroom buildings and residence halls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Services and Help Desk<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Both on-campus and distance students can reach out to the Student Help Desk with any issues or challenges you encounter. The Student Help Desk can provide telephone and walk-in support and assistance connecting to the BSU network.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also offer students&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/services.bemidjistate.edu\/TDClient\/84\/Portal\/KB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">immediate information<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;and assistance for topics such as email, D2L login, e-Services, etc. If you have a more challenging question that cannot be answered so easily, please submit a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/services.bemidjistate.edu\/TDClient\/84\/Portal\/Home\/?ID=b756ef4d-c2e0-4fcd-9dd1-a5db24d913e2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Help Ticket<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&rdquo; for further assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Campus Living<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Purchase a Parking Permit.<\/strong>&nbsp;Purchase&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/public-safety\/parking-regulations\/parking-permits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parking permits<\/a>&nbsp;for lots on campus at any point in the academic year. Street parking is free but subject to the city&rsquo;s parking regulations. BSU provides ample disabled parking for those who need it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reserve Housing.<\/strong>&nbsp;You&rsquo;ll find many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/reslife\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">housing<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>options both on and off campus. If you live off campus, you can use our campus lockers (managed by HMU) that are free to BSU registered students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review On-Campus Dining.<\/strong>&nbsp;We have a number of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bemidji.campusdish.com\/LocationsAndMenus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">on-campus dining options<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>, and many of the city&rsquo;s best restaurants and cafes are a short distance from campus. You can&nbsp;deposit money onto your ID card for buying food and other things on campus. Visit the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bemidji.campusdish.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Dining Services Office<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>,&nbsp;Cashiers Office (Deputy Hall) or&nbsp;buy more&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bemidji.campusdish.com\/MealPlans\/Category?cat=Meal_Plans_7186&amp;lid=7186\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Beaver Bucks<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;online&nbsp;once you&rsquo;ve created an account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Health &amp; Support Services<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Visit Student Health &amp; Counseling.<\/strong>&nbsp;We offer an on-campus&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/services\/health-counseling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health and counseling service facility<\/a>&nbsp;for all students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get Health Insurance.<\/strong>&nbsp;All students are required to have health insurance. BSU does not offer its own plans but can help you in finding coverage if you need it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Advising<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Meet Your Advisor.<\/strong>&nbsp;After you&rsquo;re admitted, one of your first contacts with BSU should be your academic advisor, who is assigned upon your acceptance into your graduate program. Your program advisor is your guide during your time at BSU. Since your advisor is involved with the day-to-day processes of your program, you should be in communication with them regularly concerning your academic progress and coursework. If you are unclear who your advisor is, please contact the&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:grad@bemidjistate.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">School of Graduate Studies<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get to Know Your Department.<\/strong>&nbsp;The academic department also plays a large role in the graduate experience, as it is the department that makes admission decisions and ensures the quality of the curriculum. The department has a vested interest in its graduate students because, upon completion, its graduates become ambassadors for their program.
