Earlier today, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued an executive order which will close the state’s public schools, starting no later than Wednesday March 18 and lasting until at least Friday, March 27. The governor’s announcement can be found here.
We realize this will have a significant impact on many of our employees, and we wanted to share information with you as quickly as possible. Initially:
1) For anyone who has a need to stay home starting tomorrow, you are able to submit time off requests using any vacation or unpaid leave available to you, and these requests will be approved without additional paperwork. Please follow normal call-in procedures if you are not going to be physically reporting to work on Monday, March 16.
2) All supervisors will be working with their direct reports starting tomorrow to determine telework or alternative schedules. This communication will be coming directly from your supervisors.
Your supervisors will be in communication with you as quickly as possible tomorrow.
We are continuing to collaborate closely with the system office on this developing situation. President Hensrud has a call with system leadership at 5:30 p.m. today and we hope to have more specific details available following this call. At the very least, your supervisors will be in communication with you as quickly as possible tomorrow.
If you have any questions for the system office, please submit them to me as soon as possible and I will compile and send them prior to tonight’s 5:30 p.m. call.
This information is accurate as of 12:07 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2020.
