Jeanette Lukowski was born in Chicago, but followed her muse to Minnesota in the early 1990s.

Jeanette worked in Corporate America for more than a decade before returning to college to complete her B.A. in English Literature (University of Minnesota, Twin Cities). Although she enjoyed being a Copywriter, life forced her to make some new decisions. Returning to college in 2001, Jeanette was teaching her first Composition 1 course as a graduate student the day the Twin Towers collapsed.

Earning her M.A. in Teaching College Composition (St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN) opened a whole new set of doors for Jeanette, including the offer of a job at BSU in August 2008. Since one of Jeanette’s Top 5 Strengths is “Learner,”  she began investigating “Terminal Degree” options soon after the move to Bemidji. Taking advantage of Goddard College’s (Vermont) low-residency program in Creative Writing, Jeanette earned her M.F.A., with a Creative Non-Fiction focus, in January 2011.

Jeanette’s two memoirs, Heart Scars (her M.F.A. project) and Tarnished Dreams have been published by North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc.
