Her areas of interest are 19<sup>th<\/sup> Century British Literature, Postcolonial Theory and Empire Studies, and Film Studies. At Bemidji State, she teaches courses in British literature, film, and writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degrees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ph.D. in English from Texas A&amp;M University (2012)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M.A. in English from Central Washington University (2006)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>B.F.A. in Film Production from Chapman University (2003)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recent Work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>She is the author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Art-Race-and-Fantastic-Color-Change-in-the-Victorian-Novel\/Durgan\/p\/book\/9780367663742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><em>Art, Race, and Fantastic Color Change in the Victorian Novel<\/em><i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a> (Routledge 2019), and has published essays in the book collections <em>The Victorian Era in Twenty-First Century Children&rsquo;s and Adolescent Literature and Culture<\/em> and <em>Eighteenth-Century Thing Theory in a Global Context: From Consumerism to Celebrity Culture<\/em>.
