About Library Search

  • Search Across Most of the BSU Library Resources

Through the Library Search, you’ll be able to search most of the Library’s resources, including books, journal articles, academic research databases, and more, in one convenient interface.  Results are presented in two “channels”, one for Books and More, and one for Articles and More.  With a click, you can see just one or the other set of results.

  • Get Relevant Results Quickly

The Library Search uses a relevance-ranking algorithm to find relevant results fast, and presents citations with links to available full-text in one convenient interface.  Advanced users may wish to use the Classic MnPALS Catalog for known-item searches of the Library’s collections.

  • What am I Searching?

Search results in the “channels” are retrieved from two sources: The BSU Library Catalog, which contains information on the Library’s holdings of books, eBooks, print periodicals, DVDs, government documents, sound recordings, and more.    Results from many of the journals, magazines and newspapers to which the Library subscribes are also retrieved in the search.

Please note:

The Library Search searches across most, but not all, of the Library’s resources.  Citations from research databases to which the BSU Library subscribes, but are not participating in the search, will not show up.   Also, articles from magazines, journals and newspapers to which the BSU Library subscribes, but which are not participating in the search, will not show up.
