Policies Regarding Access to and Use of A. C. Clark Library Computers and the BSU Network:

1.0 SCOPE OF POLICY
1.1 This policy applies to the access to and use of all computing equipment and peripherals which are available in public areas of the A. C. Clark Library (hereafter also referred to as “the Library”). It also includes the use of any computing equipment which is brought to and used within the Library, whether it is connected to the BSU network or not.
1.2 The terms “computing equipment” and “computer” refer to any complete computer workstation or portion thereof (e.g. display, CPU), or to any peripheral device or networked equipment.
2.0 ACCESS TO COMPUTING EQUIPMENT
2.1 As is necessary for the effective use by the Library’s primary clientele, the students, faculty, and staff of Bemidji State University, the Library reserves the right to allow or restrict access to its public use computing equipment by type of use, by type of library user, and by type of computing equipment.
2.2 The Library reserves the right to define levels of access to the different computing equipment based upon the type and purpose of the equipment, the type of use, and the type of library patron.
2.3 Bemidji State University may require the use of a login system for the use of its computers. Library users who do not have an active computer account provided by Bemidji State University’s Information Technology Services may be able to use some of the Library’s computers under the terms defined in the Library’s Computer Use Policy for Community Users.
3.0 STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR FOR COMPUTER USERS
3.1 The use of the computing equipment is governed by the policies and procedures set forth by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU). Additionally, Bemidji State University and the Library may define additional rules of user behavior.
3.2 The policies and procedures which primarily govern the use of the Library’s computing equipment are:

3.3 In addition to those policies identified in 3.2, the Library has the following additional rules and procedures governing computer access and use.
3.3.1 Beverages are not allowed at any library computer or audio/video station, except if they are stowed away in a backpack, briefcase, or similar tote. (A. C. Clark Library Drink, Food, and Tobacco Policy, section 1.2)
4.0 LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Use of any of the computing equipment or telecommunications made available by or within the A. C. Clark Library is done on an “as is” basis, without any other warranties or conditions, express or implied. The entire risk as to the results and performance of the product is assumed by the user. Neither the Library nor Bemidji State University shall have any liability to the user or any other person or entity for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, loss of revenue or profit, lost or damaged data or other commercial or economic loss, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages, or they are foreseeable.
