C. Clark Library is one of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lib.umn.edu\/govpubs\/mnfdls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">21 libraries in Minnesota<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;participating in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gpo.gov\/libraries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Federal Depository Library Program<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;(FDLP).<\/p>\n<p>The Library&rsquo;s Collection Development Policy (2010) describes as the purpose of the Government publications collections &ldquo;to provide to the public and to Bemidji State University&rsquo;s students, staff and faculty selected resources distributed through the Federal Depository Library Program or issued by an agency of the State of Minnesota.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The focus of the content is items which support the curriculum (in particular, items pertaining to Native Americans), and items which contribute to the understanding of the history, resources, and development of Minnesota (especially North Central Minnesota).<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, A. C. Clark Library transitioned to a primarily electronic selective federal depository library.&nbsp; The majority of future acquisitions will be in electronic format, with catalog records available in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mnpals-bsu.primo.exlibrisgroup.com\/discovery\/search?vid=01MNPALS_BSU:BSU&amp;lang=en&amp;sortby=rank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Library OneSearch<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>.&nbsp; The web-accessible&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.gpo.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Catalog of U. S. Government Publications<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;may be used to identify additional resources beyond the A. C. Also includes links to more complete statistics.<\/p>\n<p>The Census Bureau&rsquo;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/newsroom\/facts-for-features.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Facts for Features<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;website highlights &ldquo;collections of statistics from the Census Bureau&rsquo;s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to holidays, anniversaries, observances or topics in the news. The website for the current, President Trump&rsquo;s, administration is available at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/whitehouse.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">https:\/\/whitehouse.gov<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp; &nbsp;The website for the previous administration, President Obama&rsquo;s, has now been archived at:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The National Park Service recently issued a 1,200 page federal document, titled &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/articles\/series.htm?id=4DFF8155-1DD8-B71B-0B4C2713F34EA25C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">LGBTQ America: A Theme Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer History<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&rdquo; which is an extensive look at the LGBTQ community in the United States. It is hoped that this effort will assist in the preservation of historic LGBTQ sites across the country, as in the recent designation of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/places\/stonewall.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Stonewall Inn<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;as a national monument. &nbsp;Also worth noting is an excellent guide by University of California-San Diego librarians, titled &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/ucsd.libguides.com\/lgbtdocs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">LGBTQ History in Government Documents<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>,&rdquo; which includes a timeline and bibliography, as well as a slide presentation.<\/p>\n<p>NOTICE: &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fdlp.gov\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=2539:chrome-browser-issues-for-some-gpo-websites&amp;catid=8:news-events&amp;Itemid=145&amp;utm_source=newsletter_803&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=chrome-browser-issues-for-some-gpo-websites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">GPO is currently experiencing issues with the Chrome browser for many of their websites<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>. &nbsp;Until this issue has been corrected, it is recommended that Firefox or Microsoft&rsquo;s Internet Explorer be used.<\/p>\n<div class=\"padding\">\n<p>Check out&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/capitolwords.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Capitol Words<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a>&nbsp;to see which words or phases are used, and by whom, as recorded in the Congressional Record.
