Talley Gallery presents paintings of Cat Crotchett

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Talley Gallery at Bemidji State University will present “Rules of Engagement,” the works of painter Cat Crotchett, in a month-long exhibit beginning Monday, Feb. 25.

Crotchett, who has been a professional artist for 18 years and is an associate professor of art at Western Michigan University, currently focuses her gallery work on encaustic painting, a method where color pigments are mixed with melted beeswax. Her work, characterized by layers of vibrant colors and textured surfaces, also includes oils on paper.

Crotchett has an extensive exhibition record, including national solo, invitational and juried exhibits. The Talley Gallery exhibit will be her 14th solo show since 1995. Her work also has been recognized through numerous grants, awards and fellowships.

A reception will be held in conjunction with the opening of the show, from 1-4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25.

Crotchett’s show will run through March 21, 2008.

Located in the Education Arts building on the campus of Bemidji State University, the Talley Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery is barrier-free and is open at no charge to the public.
