Tickets on sale for Bemidji State performance of Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus

BEMIDJI, Minn. (March 7, 2011) — For the first time, the famed Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus will be performing in Bemidji. Tickets are on sale now for “Olé, Olé, Olé, The Rhythm is Gonna Getcha,” to be held Saturday, March 19, in the Thompson Recital Hall of Bemidji State University’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Hobson Memorial Union on campus for $10; children and students with valid identification cards can purchase tickets for $5. Additionally, a limited number of student scholarship tickets are available; interested students should contact the Union information desk for more information.

The Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus has been providing award winning performances since 1981. The fourth largest gay men’s chorus in the country, with between 80 and 100 performing artists, the chorus is an all-volunteer community organization based in Minneapolis. The chorus has a primary focus on “pursuit in music excellence,” but also serves to transform and educate its audiences and celebrate diversity.

The chorus’ appearaance is sponsored by the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus Outreach Program, and hosted by the Bemidji-area Hospitality Initiative of Servant Hearts and BSU-Phoenix Gay/Straight Student Organization. The concert is made possible by a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council and donations from PFLAG-Park Rapids and Bemidji State University’s Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee.
