BSU Alumni Association names interim director

Rob Bollinger, executive director of the BSU Foundation, announced that Molly Aitken-Julin has been named interim director of the BSU Alumni Association.

“I am excited and honored to be part of the Bemidji State University Alumni Association,” Aitken-Julin said. “Between my time as an undergraduate student and now as a professional, I have been able to spend a third of my life on the BSU campus. I have spent the last five years in the admissions office sharing my story with prospective students and their families, helping them make the decision to attend Bemidji State. In a sense, this is an easy transition, because I will be able to continue talking about how wonderful it is to be a part of Bemidji State and to be involved in everything that is going on at the University. Now I can increase awareness among students and our alumni that your affinity with Bemidji State will last longer than just their time as a student on campus. It will last a lifetime.”

Aitken-Julin has been with Bemidji State University since 2007 in a variety of roles in the Office of Admissions. She has been coordinator of Bemidji State’s Post-Secondary Education Option program and overseen the Office of Admissions scholarship program; has been a transfer specialist; and most recently has supervised the University Ambassadors program and handled all event planning for the office.

She also served as interim director of Bemidji State’s International Program Center from June-August, 2011.

“We are very pleased to have Molly join our team,” Bollinger said. “She is a proud BSU graduate, and she brings a great deal of energy, pride and passion to this important position as we look to engage more than 30,000 Bemidji State alumni. Molly’s work in the Office of Admissions has provided her with a strong foundation for building relationships with current and future students, and her new role will allow her to continue these skills with our graduates and friends of the University from every generation.”

Aitken-Julin began her career in higher education in 2005 as an admissions representative at the High-Tech Institute in Minneapolis; she held that position until joining the BSU admissions office in 2007.

Aitken-Julin has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and will complete a master’s degree in education and leadership this spring, both from Bemidji State.

Aitken-Julin replaces Marla Patrias, who served as director of the BSU Alumni Association for 11 years before being named chief development officer for the BSU Foundation in November of 2011.
