Rec center offers April swim lessons

Registration is now open for April youth swimming lessons at Bemidji State University. Lessons cost $55 per child per session and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Lessons will be held from April 2-25 at the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center pool.

Lessons for skill level 1 will be held from 4:30-5:05 p.m.; level 2 from 5:10-5:45 p.m.; and level 5 from 6:30 p.m.-7:05 p.m. The level 5 section will include one instructor per five students.

Skill levels follow criteria set by the American Red Cross. Level 1 is an introduction to water skills designed to help students feel comfortable in the water; Level 2 provides fundamental aquatic skills; Level 3 focuses on stroke development; Level 4 on stroke improvement; and Level 5 on stroke refinement.
