Exercise No Longer Just for Adults

BEMIDJI, Minn. (Nov. 10, 2011) —Beth Huschle, owner of SmartFITT, is starting a FITT 4 Life camp for kids 12-15 years old.

Huschle said she decided to start the camp because she had been asked so many times if she worked with children.

“I didn’t feel the exercise programs I do with adults would get kinds excited about exercise and change their lifestyle,’ Huschle explained.  “In a camp setting, we will be able to build excitement, motivation, teamwork, and competition.”

The camp will consist of 12 sessions where students will be working on exercises and activities that focus on building strength, flexibility, endurance, and nutrition.  Huschle will also have Bemidji State University exercise science student, Ashley Corazalla, a junior from Maple Grove, assist with the camp.  Corazalla will be assigning nutrition homework for the kids to understand how to start making healthy food choices.

Each camp session will be 90 minutes and consist of station work, relays, and team activities.  All activities will be directly transferable to what kids have available to them at home.

FITT 4 Life camp will be held Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 21-Dec. 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Orientation for camp is Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Gillett Recreation-Fitness Center lobby on the Bemidji State campus. Cost for the camp is $120 per participant.
