Brown Bag Lunch series offers project management guidelines

BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation will offer a presentation entitled “How to Manage Projects Big and Small” from noon to 1 p.m. November 14 at its facility located at 3801 Bemidji Avenue North.

The session format is a half-hour presentation followed by a question and answer period. Attendance is free and open to all who’d like to learn more about the topic. Participants are encouraged to bring along a bag lunch.

This presentation will define the major elements of a project management plan, provide participants with an overview of the project management tools needed to make any project a success and provide guidance on how to develop a project timeline quickly and easily. Those attending will receive a fill-in-the-blank template that includes all of the major project management elements including communication plan, stakeholder analysis and project scope.

The featured presenter will be CRI Associate Director Michael Wellcome. He has been involved in project management for the past 15 years, serving as project manager for many grants, contracts and development projects. His experience also includes business process improvement, organizational development, grant writing and strategic planning.

“In very broad terms, a project can be defined as any event that has a specific start and end date,” Wellcome said. “This brown bag session is designed for organizations and individuals that are or will be involved in any aspect of a project, big or small.”

The session is part of a new series of training and informational presentations being offered by the CRI on the second Wednesday of each month. More information and a full schedule can be found at http://www.cri-bsu.org/BrownbagSeries.html.
